The first step will be to prepare the parish rectory and Church for the assignment of a full-time priest. This will be a "good fruit" made possible by the VISION FOR OUR FUTURE through financial assistance provided by Distinguished Diocesan Benefactors dedicated to "support for existing parishes."<br /> What is it all about? There's work to be done! We'll begin on MONDAY, AUGUST 1st and work daily through SATURDAY, AUGUST 13th. Willing hearts-and-hands are needed to clean, repair, and prepare the way for the building up of Saints Peter and Paul parish. A plan of action will be developed by a professional building contractor. Materials will be obtained and pre-positioned on-site so volunteers will have everything they need to get the job done. Supervision will ensure that the talents of volunteers are put to best use and their time is productive. God willing, shortly after OPERATION BUFFALO concludes the parish will welcome their new pastor and begin a new page in their life of service to Christ and His Holy Church. Mr. Shipovalnikov, an eminently knowledgeable and experienced Orthodox musician, will describe in detail the differences between a ‘normal’ Liturgy and the Hierarchical Liturgy, so that choir directors can effectively prepare themselves and their choirs for such occasions. In addition, he will cover topics such as when the Bishop serves as a Priest and the order for ordinations, processions and other special events that occur during the service. Please refer to the flyer in the Narthex which contains the schedule of events for the day as well as important information pertaining to this event (price of tickets, transportation, meals, directions, etc.) <br />As this is a Diocesan sponsored event, His Grace will be joining us for the day at which time the youth of our diocese will be able spend some time with His Grace in prayer and fellowship. A special feature at this year’s gathering will be a ‘Question and Answer Session with His Grace’ or better known as ‘Stump the Bishop’. To help prepare for this Q&A session, we are asking all of the youth participants to send in questions they may have for His Grace. These questions can range from asking about life as a Bishop, life in the Diocese or life in the Church. Holy Trinity Eastern Orthodox Church http://nynjoca.org/operation_buffalo_2011.html Episcopal Visit February 12-13, 2011 http://www.orthodoxrahway.org/news_110222_1.html Sat, 12 Feb 2011 00:00:00 -0500 <div><img border="0" hspace="5" vspace="0" align="left" src="http://www.orthodoxrahway.org/display_image.php?ext=JPG&relativeimage=images/Events 2011/Episcopal Visit February 13/IMG_3751-Archbishop-Visit-021311.JPG&archive=0&final_h=67&final_w=90&percent=100"><meta content="text/html; charset=utf-8" http-equiv="Content-Type" /><meta content="Word.Document" name="ProgId" /><meta content="Microsoft Word 12" name="Generator" /><meta content="Microsoft Word 12" name="Originator" /><link href="file:///C:\Users\ADELPH~1\AppData\Local\Temp\msohtmlclip1\01\clip_filelist.xml" rel="File-List" /><link href="file:///C:\Users\ADELPH~1\AppData\Local\Temp\msohtmlclip1\01\clip_themedata.thmx" rel="themeData" /><link href="file:///C:\Users\ADELPH~1\AppData\Local\Temp\msohtmlclip1\01\clip_colorschememapping.xml" rel="colorSchemeMapping" /><style>  </style> <p class="MsoNoSpacing">On Saturday and Sunday, February 12<sup>th</sup> and 13<sup>th</sup>, His Grace Bishop Michael joined us for his first visit as our archpastor.<span> </span>Having visited last year for a mission vespers service, we were familiar with the message of love and humility that Vladyka brings with him.<span> </span></p> <p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span> </span>On Saturday night, before Great Vespers, Vladyka Michael had dinner with the Parish Council and listened to their thoughts about direction of our parish.<span> </span>After that, 20 parishioners and friends joined us for the Great Vespers service.<span> </span>This was followed by a dessert reception.<span> </span>It was quite fitting that the sweet joy of the resurrection was joined to sweet treats.<span> </span>Vladyka spoke about the harmony of the Gospels.<span> </span>His lecture was so endearing that there was an immediate call for him to return to continue with the talk.</p> <p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span> </span>Sunday morning saw Vladyka being processed to the Church by the children of the parish.<span> </span>He was greeted with a fresh baked bread from Lilianna’s mother, Alexandrina.<span> </span>During the sermon, Vladyka spoke about the need for humility as we begin our Lenten journey for this year.<span> </span>Humility is knowing who we are, and that we are made from the same dust as Adam.<span> </span>Regardless, we are loved by God who has done all things first to save us.</p> <p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span> </span>After the Divine Liturgy there was a festive potluck meal.<span> </span>Mashed potatoes, borscht, eggplant parm, roast beef.<span> </span>It was quite an amazing meal, and a true example of our love for one another in Christ.<span> </span>When we were finished eating, His Grace answered questions that the Church School children had prepared – such questions as:<span> </span>Why is the carpet red?<span> </span>Why is confession important?<span> </span>Why do bishops where hats?<span> </span>Why do we use candles?<span> </span>He also fielded questions from the adults again.<span> </span>He shared many wonderful insights into our Holy Orthodox faith.<span> </span></p> <p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span> </span>We are looking forward to having Vladyka Michael as our guest again, when we will once again see the love of Christ in the image of the Bishop surrounded by his faithful and priests. </p> </div> Holy Trinity Eastern Orthodox Church http://www.orthodoxrahway.org/news_110222_1.html
